Terms of Service & Reservation Policy
Thank you for choosing Hakuba Rent a Car. Please read the following terms and policies carefully before making a reservation.
1. Driver's License & Eligibility
You may rent and drive our vehicles if you possess a valid driver’s license for use in Japan. There is no upper age limit. You must present the original driver’s license on the day of rental (copies or photos are not accepted).
- Japanese Driver’s License
- International Driving Permit (IDP): Must be based on the 1949 Geneva Convention.
- Foreign License with Official Translation: Required for licenses issued in Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Slovenia, Monaco, and Taiwan.
2. Reservation & Cancellation Policy
Cancellation Fees
If you need to cancel your reservation, please contact us as soon as possible. The following cancellation fees apply:

| No-show (without notice) | 100% of the base rental fee |
Optional Fees
- Child Seat: 1,100 JPY (incl. tax) per 24 hours

Pick-up / Drop-off Service (Shuttle Service):
Hakuba / Otari Area: One-way 3,000 JPY / Round-trip 6,000 JPY (incl. tax)
*For other areas, the price will be quoted separately by email.
3. Insurance, Compensation & NOC
To prepare for unexpected accidents, please select one of the following coverage plans.
*All insurance and compensation apply only to drivers aged 21 and over.

Basic Coverage Included in Rental Fee

Non-Operation Charge (NOC)
If a vehicle requires repair, cleaning, or towing due to an accident, theft, or damage, the following NOC will be charged in addition to actual repair costs:
- 55,000 JPY (incl. tax): Vehicle returned under its own power
- 110,000 JPY (incl. tax): Vehicle requires towing
*If Plan C is selected, the above NOC charges are fully waived.
4. Usage Rules
Fuel Policy
Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned full.
Illegal Parking
If parking violations are not settled, a penalty fee of 25,000 JPY will be charged.
No Smoking & Pets
All vehicles are strictly non-smoking, and pets are not allowed.
5. Return & Extensions
Please contact us in advance if you expect to return the vehicle late. Unauthorized late returns may incur additional charges.
